Childhood memories of Friday nights with my family, drinking pop out of dried beef "star"glasses (have any of those?) and having popcorn with my whole family and watching "Dallas." That is one thing I will never forget...and we relived it visiting Southfork Ranch. And it was AWESOME.
I can't tell you ALL about it - I would be writing for days. But know this:
1. They made the house, grounds and driveway appear bigger on TV by using wide-angle lenses and re-running shots of the driveway over and over again to make it all appear larger than life.
2. The original owner of the Ranch is named JR. For real.
3. The inside is nothing like the Ranch on TV. But all the outdoor scenes (Kristin drowning in the pool; JR and John Ross jumping from the balcony when the house was on fire; Ewing BBQs, breakfast on the porch) were all shot on location during the summer at Southfork in Dallas. Everything else was shot on a studio lot in LA.
4. The owners sold the Ranch shortly after the "Who Shot JR?" phenom because they had 1000s of cards and flowers delivered to the house, people jumping the fence to "check on JR" and stealing grass off the ranch as souvenirs. Some people have a little problem with TV vs. Reality.
Not me, of course.
5. My daughter had her poopy diaper changed on the front lawn of Southfork Ranch. Only a few can claim that fame.
Here are a few pics from our day - it was a lot of fun!

The porch where they ate breakfast and the pool. Teresa the maid was no where to be found.

The kids ran and ran that day - we could go anywhere we wanted and stay as long as we wanted. The grounds were impeccably clean and manicured.

Our Christmas card picture. Just kidding.

Just a couple of girls from Yoder, Indiana reliving childhood. Priceless!
Hello!! I LOVE these pics and am SOOOO jealous!
